Premiums issued by insurance and reinsurance companies stood at 3.9 billion dirhams (billion dirhams) in October 2020, against 4.14 billion dirhams during the same period of the previous year, a decrease of 5, 9%,.
In detail, the “Life” branch fell by 23.7% to 1.45 billion dirhams, mainly under the effect of the fall in the “Savings” sub-branch of 31.7%, indicates the Authority of insurance and social welfare control (Acaps) in its report on statistics of the insurance sector for the month of October 2020.
For their part, unit-linked contracts (UC) continued to do well, increasing by 10.9%, underlines the same source.
Regarding the “Non-Life” branch, the latter increased by 9.4% to 2.44 billion dirhams in October 2020, with increases in almost all sub-branches with the exception of assistance (- 21.4%).
The automotive branch saw its premiums increase by 4.2% while the bodily accident sub-branch recorded an increase of 13.6%, compared to October 2019, according to Acaps.
