A 60-year-old is said to have stabbed a seven-year-old in downtown Halle with a knife. The man has now been arrested. But there are still many questions.

Halle – A 60-year-old was arrested after a knife attack on a seven-year-old child in Halle. The man is now in custody, a police spokesman said on Friday afternoon. The man is said to have stabbed the child on Thursday morning on Oleariusstrasse in the central Hallmarkt. The boy received medical treatment shortly after the crime and, according to the police, is not in mortal danger.
It is currently unclear why the man attacked the child. The police did not want to comment on a possible motive or whether the victim and the alleged perpetrator knew each other.
The suspect was provisionally arrested on Thursday and spent Friday night in police custody. A police tracking dog was also used in the search for the alleged perpetrator. Police say the suspect was sober at the time of the arrest. The area at Hallmarkt was temporarily cordoned off in the course of the investigation and securing of evidence.
