After long months of waiting and a “beta” (editor’s note: test phase) that ignited the world of esports, the final release of “Valorant” is imminent. The new competitive FPS from publisher Riot Games will be available for free for everyone on PC tomorrow, Tuesday June 2. To celebrate the event, Riot Games and the Twitch broadcast platform are hosting a $ 200,000 global title tournament the weekend following its launch.

One winner per region

Entitled “Twitch Rivals: Valorant Launch Showdown”, the competition will take place in seven different regions of the world: in Europe, North America, Brazil, Latin America, South Korea and Japan. A winning team will be chosen in each part of the globe, after a group phase and play-offs.

According to Twitch and Riot Games, the tournament will bring together some of the world’s best players on “Valorant” as well as “spectators’ favorite content creators”. It will take place from June 5 to 7, alongside Summer Game Fest on Twitch.

During the “Valorant” beta, Twitch had already organized two competitions on Riot’s FPS. The French team Gotaga won the Twitch Rivals Showdown in Europe in early April, while the Swiss Kinstaar participated in the charity tournament against the coronavirus in May.
