KOMPAS.com – Directorate of Drug Research (Ditresnarkoba) Polda Riau, managed to catch two people who were suspected of being courier city crystal meth on Jalan Soekarno Hatta, Pekanbaru, Friday (23/10/2020) around 19.00 WIB.
The two actors had the initials HW (52) and IZ (55). One of the perpetrators, IZ, was an officer with the rank of Kompol serving at the Riau Police Directorate for General Criminal Investigation (Ditreskrimum).
“From the arrests of the two perpetrators, the Riau Police Narcotics Research Directorate team confiscated 16 kilograms of methamphetamine-type narcotics,” Riau Police Chief Inspector General Pol Agung Setya Effendi said during a press conference on Saturday (24/10/2020).
After the arrest, Agung firmly stated that IZ was no longer a member of the Indonesian National Police.
“Yesterday maybe a member, but not today. That’s why I only mention names, but not ranks, because they don’t have ranks,” he said.
Not only that, Agung also hopes that the panel of judges will punish the perpetrators with harsh sentences.
“I hope the judges give a proper sentence for traitors of this nation,” he said.

Chronology of arrests, already under scrutiny
Agung said, before being arrested, the two perpetrators had been staked out. Initially, the suspect HW was called by someone with the initials HR who was still a DPO to collect crystal methamphetamine at Jalan Parit Indah, Pekanbaru.
Then, HW called IZ to take the illicit goods. They then left to get crystal meth using the Opel Blazer.
“On arrival at Jalan Parit Indah, two people arrived on motorbikes to give two backpacks suspected of containing crystal methamphetamine into the car,” he said.

After receiving the items, the suspect found out that the police had carried out surveillance, the perpetrator then fled.
Agung said, seeing the perpetrator running away, the officers immediately gave chase.
In fact, he continued, the police had taken firm action by firing several times into the car from the right side to stop them.

However, the perpetrators continued to try to escape until they hit several other vehicles.
As a result, IZ suffered gunshot wounds to the arm and back and had to be rushed to Bhayangkara Hospital for treatment.
Meanwhile, his colleague HW suffered a torn head injury due to a crash in the car.
“Officers finally managed to stop the two suspects from escaping and secured 16 packs of crystal methamphetamine in the form of tea packages. The suspect and evidence were secured to the Riau Police,” he said.

In the video circulating on social media, it appears that the police are chasing a car carrying drugs at a fast pace.
In addition, there was a voice of officers asking the driver to stop the car. There were even several gunshots.

It was also seen that officers hit the car driven by the perpetrator several times. However, the perpetrators did not stop.
Shortly after that, the perpetrator’s car was stopped.

After that, the officers seemed to take two men out of the car. One of the perpetrators seemed helpless.
