Ukrainian military and police officers will be sent to DR Congo. Zelensky signed a decree

40 citizens of Ukraine will take part in the mission: 20 servicemen of the Armed Forces, as well as 20 policemen and servicemen of the National Guard.

The presidential decree noted that Ukraine’s participation in the UN mission to stabilize the situation in the DR Congo meets the national interests of the state and will contribute to the maintenance of international peace and security.

The decision to send the Ukrainian contingent to the DR Congo was made on the basis of the proposal of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine, the document stressed.

Context:

The 18th Detached Helicopter Squadron has been carrying out tasks as part of the UN mission to stabilize the situation in the Congo since 2012. Ukrainian peacekeepers carry out transport operations, fire support of ground forces, air escort of military forces, demonstration of force, reconnaissance and surveillance, search and rescue operations.
