Hospitals are not catching up and are restricting traffic because of Covid! GREAT OVERVIEW

The number of active cases of coronavirus exceeded 100,000 for the first time in the Czech Republic. Many hospitals suffer from acute staff shortages. Most of them therefore decided to limit their operations so that they were able to provide quality care to patients.

The army even had to be called to the hospital in Náchod. The task of the soldiers is to help the nurses in manual labor.

The number of patients with Covid-19 disease and its severe course has been increasing at Jihlava Hospital in the last three weeks. Therefore, a week ago, the facility reduced the planned care. The situation has not improved, so from this week it also limits outpatient care.

“Of course, the limitation of care does not apply to acute procedures or operations where a time delay would lead to a worsening of the patient’s condition,” reassures the hospital director Lukáš Velev.

This is not the case in the Zlín Region either, where all hospitals postpone non-acute planned operations. These include facilities in Zlín, Uherské Hradiště, Kroměříž and Vsetín.

Restrictions on operation have also been introduced by hospitals in the South Bohemian Region and the Liberec Region. For example, the Liberec Hospital moves all planned operations to Turnov and Frýdlant.

The University Hospital Brno also had to reduce the number of operating theaters. “Some time ago we limited the operation of operating theaters. We now have thirteen. We did not have to limit any other care. We appeal to people to go for preventive check-ups and not neglect their health,” said Veronika Plachá, spokeswoman for the Brno University Hospital.

Many hospitals have also limited the possibility of visiting their wards. Before visiting the hospital, it is therefore always advisable to find out about the website of the relevant medical facility.
