“Nüdlingen became my real home,” says Arthur Stollberger, whom almost everyone in the community knows. He is now celebrating his 80th birthday. He was born on September 4, 1940 in Remlingen near Würzburg. He has lived in Nüdlingen for 41 years.
His wife Erika, b. He met Braumandl at a teachers’ seminar over 50 years ago. After just four months, they got married in 1968. In 1974 the couple built in Nüdlingen.
They have five children together; Arthur Stollberger has a daughter from a previous relationship. There are now seven grandchildren and one great-grandson. A stroke of fate in 2016: his wife Erika dies.
Diverse commitment
Stollberger is not a man who sits around doing nothing. He has always been involved in a variety of ways and contributed to the clubs and his community. “I always had the feeling that I am contributing to the well-being of the community,” he once explained his commitment as a councilor and deputy mayor.
The former teacher has been retired for 15 years. He taught English, history and social studies at the secondary school in Bad Kissingen. But there can be no question of retirement: he is still performing tasks. For example, he regularly writes articles for the local newspaper, mainly from his town. Regardless of which club, which event: Arthur Stollberger is virtually the local newspaper for the residents. His shorthand skills are always useful to him. And the press work is good to stay mentally fit, he once said. His hobby, photography, is also useful to him.
For around 40 years he has been particularly fond of reporting on club life, the community and the school. No problem for him, after all, he knows his way around clubs and politics. He himself helped found three associations (fruit growing and horticulture, musicians and Nüdlinger Carneval Club) and is a member of several. He was on the local council from 1984 to 2014, including several years as 2nd or 3rd mayor. After 30 years of municipal council activity, he was awarded the citizen’s medal and the municipal medal of merit in bronze. He was in the district council from 1984 to 1996.
Pilgrimage to Vierzehnheiligen
For many years he also went with the Nüdlinger pilgrimage to Vierzehnheiligen and reported about it for the newspaper. The jubilee named bowling, hiking and gardening, and in the past also horse riding, as other hobbies. He wants to celebrate his 80th birthday with his large family and friends in Nüdlingen, he says.
