The sinking of the GP-17 barge occurred by incursion by third parties, who stole, among other things, the covers (manholes) of the ballast tanks, which filled with water during a storm (downpour, waves, hurricane-force winds). ), which determined the immersion, reveals a report prepared by PDVSA.
The barge was rescued and today it is at the Rafael Urdaneta dock, undergoing repairs and the replacement of the necessary equipment to enable it to operate.
