According to the sports site The Athletic, the formation of the City-Queen would have asked the permission of the Minnesota Wild to negotiate with the 65-year-old.

Boudreau was fired by the Wild last February, but he is still under contract with the club.

His career behind the bench for a National Hockey League (NHL) team, he maintained a record of 567-302-115 in 984 games, he who also managed the Anaheim Ducks and the Washington Capitals. Boudreau has led his teams to the playoffs 10 times, but has never been able to reach the Stanley Cup final.

Currently, all teams on the Bettman Circuit have a head coach in place. There is however the Seattle Kraken which is still looking for a pilot. The 32nd NHL team will kick off its first campaign in 2021-22.
