A car explosion outside the Kitchener, Ont., Regional courthouse on Friday morning claimed the life of a man.
Waterloo Regional Police say the blast “appears to be the result of an improvised explosive device,” reported Global News.
Emergency services were deployed around 10:30 a.m. to extinguish a burning vehicle. It was only several hours later that police said a body had been found inside.
An explosives team was on site to determine the exact origin of the blast.
The area was evacuated and people were asked to avoid the area as a precaution. A police spokeswoman said she was not sure whether the nearby Kitchener market will be affected by the investigation on Saturday morning.
