British Prince Harry and his wife Meghan have moved into their new home in the US. Although a spokesperson is unwilling to provide further details, The Los Angeles Times has discovered that the two have bought a villa in Montecito, near Los Angeles.
The 12 million euro mansion is 1,350 square meters in size, has nine bedrooms and its own cinema, gym and recreation room. There is also a guest house with two bedrooms, a tennis court and a swimming pool.
Montecito is an hour and a half drive from LA, near Santa Barbara on the Pacific coast. Harry and Meghan’s new fellow citizens include many celebrities, such as Oprah Winfrey. Katy Perry and Ellen DeGeneres.
“The Duke and Duchess of Sussex moved into their new residence in July,” the spokesman said. “They feel at home in the quiet privacy of their new community.” The released statement also asks to respect the privacy of the couple and their neighbors.
Not hassled
“People want to live in Montecito because they can have a quiet private life here,” explains real estate agent Pippa Davis from the town to AP news agency. “Here the very rich can live in seclusion, without being bothered by paparazzi or day trippers.”
“I sometimes see Oprah walking down the street and nobody bothering her. It’s an unwritten law. People who harass celebrities don’t live here. Whoever lives here respects their privacy.”

Harry and Meghan indicated at the beginning of this year that they no longer want to work fully for the British royal family. Due to the break with Buckingham Palace, Harry and Meghan have been banned from using their royal titles since March 31. Harry also has to surrender his military honorary titles.
The prince said he wanted a quieter life, out of the spotlight, in order to allow his son Archie to grow up quietly. Before that, the couple also wanted to move to Meghan Markle’s hometown.
