they ask him to stop smoking on the train and get assaulted

Two Toulouse residents, aged 19 and 21, were violently assaulted on a train, returning from their vacation, Wednesday July 29. The two young men, who had asked a passenger to please quit smoking on the train, were the victims of an assault in a meeting, revealed The Independent.

While returning by train from a stay in Port-Leucate in Aude, the two friends were joined by new travelers at Narbonne station. Among them, two young men, one of whom lit a cigarette on the train. The two Toulouse residents then asked the person to quit smoking on the train, which did not please the main concerned who started to get angry.

Taken aback, the two Toulouse residents then went in search of a controller in the train, but without success. “Is it normal that there is no controller on the train?”, testified to our colleagues, one of the two young people attacked.

Injured hand with knife

According to the daily, the young smoker would have made many round trips in the wagon, and would thus have taken photos of the two young Toulouse. “In fact, he warned friends who were waiting for us at the Carcassonne SNCF station”, explained one of the two victims.

Indeed, once the train has arrived at the Carcassonne for a quick stop, four new individuals got on the train to come and support the smoker. “Several of them got together to punch us. For my part, I lost consciousness and my friend was injured by a stab in his hand …“, reported one of the two Toulouse residents.

The suspects got off the train before it left and the two victims were finally taken care of at the next station, in Castelnaudary, before being transported to hospital by the firefighters.

An open investigation

One of the Toulouse residents survived with several fractures to his face, an injury to the brow bone and several bruises. His friend received a broken nose and a knife wound to his hand. Still according to the Independent, no temporary work interruption (ITT) has yet been defined.

Two days after the fact and still very shocked by their aggression the two victims were to lodge a complaint with the Toulouse police station for “violence in assembly, with the use of a weapon”. The file has been transferred to Carcassonne, where thanks to the images of the surveillance cameras of the station and the city, the police can perhaps find the attackers. The investigation is ongoing.
