Mayor of Pucusana, Luis Pascual Chauca, passed away

The mayor of Pucusana, Luis Pascual Chauca Navarro, died this Sunday at the Rebagliati Hospital, victim of COVID-19. It is the first local authority in the province of Lima to die of this disease.

The 54-year-old mayor was elected in 2018, after running on two other occasions. The Municipality of Pucusana issued a statement reporting the death of his authority. The letter highlights the work carried out by Mayor Chauca Navarro during the pandemic.

“The District Municipality of Pucusana makes known to the public opinion by this means the sensitive death of our mayor Luis Pascual Chauca Navarro, that man who worked tirelessly for each of its inhabitants and even more during this pandemic,” reads in the notice.

“A man who worked whole mornings to provide help to all its inhabitants and who always had the doors open for all people,” adds the message.

Nationally, there have been other deaths from local authorities linked to the new coronavirus. This is the case of the mayors Alberto Magallanes Mendoza (66), from the Alto Larán district (Chincha, Ica); Silvio Valles Lomas (42), from Masisea (Ucayali); Carlos Valqui Matos (48), Ticlacayán (Pasco) and Antonio Ventura Lizana (62), Kañaris (Ferreñafe, Lambayeque).
