British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak said it was too early to draw final conclusions about the reasons for the breakthrough of the dam of the Kakhovka hydroelectric power station in the Kherson region in southern Ukraine. On Wednesday, June 7, writes Sky News.
In particular, the politician stressed that the British intelligence services are establishing all the details about the destruction of the Kakhovskaya hydroelectric power station and they will have to find out who exactly is behind the dam explosion.
“If it is proven that this happened on purpose, then this will be, I think, the largest attack on civilian infrastructure in Ukraine since the beginning of the war and will demonstrate a new level of Russian aggression,” Sunak told the press during a briefing.
According to him, attacks on civilian infrastructure are horrendous and wrong.
“We have already seen similar cases in this war, but it is too early to say anything for sure,” he added.
Recall that Russian soldiers blew up the Kakhovskaya hydroelectric power station last night, June 6. As a result of the incident, about 80 settlements in the Kherson region on both banks of the Dnieper are under the threat of flooding.
The head of the Kherson OVA, Alexander Prokudin, said that about 16,000 people are in the critical flood zone on the right bank of the Kherson region.
The Ministry of Defense of Ukraine believes that in this way the Russians tried to prevent the Ukrainian counteroffensive.

As of 19:30, on the right bank of the Kherson region, 1,335 houses were flooded from the enemy explosion of the Kakhovskaya hydroelectric power station. On the left bank, Korsunka and Dnepryan are completely flooded, partially Sandy, Staraya Zburyevka, Cossack Camps, Kardashinka, Krynki, Naked Pier and Oleshki are partially flooded.
