Floor Jansen has breast cancer. The 41-year-old singer from Goirle announced it on Instagram Wednesday afternoon. “The word cancer is a shock”.
The Nightwish singer, who starred on the popular TV show Best Singers in 2019, received the bad news two weeks ago. “Everything I thought was important before the diagnosis changed dramatically in minutes. I just want to be healthy again and watch my daughter grow. I want to live.”
The tumor was discovered accidentally during a routine checkup. “The scariest part is that I didn’t feel it. I thought I was in good health. If I didn’t go to that checkup, it would have been a long way off to be discovered and could have grown much further.”
“It appears he has no metastases.”
The outlook now looks positive, writes Jansen, who had already operated on Thursday. “Then they’ll remove the tumor. It appears to be a non-aggressive form and has no metastases. I can also hold my breasts.”
There will be more radiation treatments in three months. After that, hopefully the singer is cured.
