Queen Letizia made her second day of visit to New York on Wednesday 21 September 2022. The Queen of Spain has dedicated this day to cancer research, on the sidelines of World Cancer Research Day, which will take place this Saturday.

Queen Letizia supports the World Cancer Research Day organized for the first time outside Spain
The Queen Letizia’s first day in New York focused on her duties as UNICEF president during the engagements organized on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly. His second day focused on medical research and specifically cancer research.
This September 21, Queen Letizia, 50, attended a meeting at the Cervantes Institute in New York with Spanish researchers in the fight against cancer. The events the Queen attended on Wednesday were held on the sidelines of World Cancer Research Day (WCRD). This world day is actually a Spanish initiative, set for September 24 by the Spanish Cancer Association (AECC). This day, which has lasted for 6 years, is celebrated for the first time outside of Spain.

Various senior AECC officials, researchers, physicians, specialists and directors of medical institutes took part in the discussion between a hematology expert from a New York hospital’s oncology department and a physician in charge of cardiovascular services at Mount Sinai Hospital. .

After the meeting, Queen Letizia took part in the event organized to celebrate the first World Cancer Research Day outside Spain. Jill Biden, 71, First Lady of the United States, was in attendance at the event. The reunion was warm between Letizia and Jill. Two days earlier, the two women were in London to attend the funeral of Queen Elizabeth II. Discussions were organized during the event.
