One resident suspected of being infected with monkeypox was found in Singkawang – ANTARA News Central Kalimantan

Pontianak (ANTARA) – The Singkawang Health and Family Planning Service found one case of a resident suspected of being infected with monkeypox (Monkeypox).

“The patient is a male, currently being treated at the Yos Soedarso Regional Hospital, Pontianak,” said Head of the P2 Division of the Singkawang Health and Family Planning Agency, Mursalin, Friday.

Mursalin said that earlier on Monday (13/6), the patient visited the North Singkawang Health Center. Then, the patient was referred to the Vincentius Singkawang Hospital.

Next, an examination by a doctor is carried out. Where the doctor suspects even though at the first diagnosis the patient is declared to have ordinary chickenpox.

However, the chickenpox experienced by the patient needed treatment given that there were more lumps, so the doctor at the Vincentius Singkawang Hospital suggested that the patient be referred to the Yos Soedarso Hospital in Pontianak.

“Because it was suspected of being monkeypox, the patient was referred with a health protocol procedure to the Yos Soedarso Hospital. And now he has been treated in the isolation room of the Yos Soedarso Hospital Pontianak,” he said.

Mursalin asserted, if this finding is still suspected of monkeypox. His party has reported this finding to the West Kalimantan Provincial Health Office.

“Until now, the disease that we suspect is still not positive for monkeypox,” he said.

For the handling of the cases found, the patient in question has been handled by his side until he was referred to the Yos Soedarso Regional Hospital, Pontianak. Then, people who have direct contact with patients have also been handled by North Singkawang Health Center officers.

“This means that people who are in contact with our patients will continue to monitor whether there is transmission or not,” he said.

So far, he said, only one such case has been found. It’s still not certain because it’s still suspected. Therefore, his party is still waiting for confirmation in the final diagnosis at the Yos Soedarso Hospital Pontianak.

Moreover, according to the patient’s statement, he said he had never been anywhere. Then no one from outside is in contact with the patient.

“Hopefully the smallpox experienced by the patient is ordinary chickenpox,” he hoped. Monkeypox, according to alodokter.com, is a viral infection characterized by purulent nodules on the skin. Monkeypox or monkeypox first appeared in the Democratic Republic of the Congo in 1970.

At first, monkeypox has symptoms similar to chickenpox, namely watery nodules. As the disease progresses, watery nodules turn into pus and form lumps in the neck, armpits, or groin due to swollen lymph nodes.*
