DFB schedules 1st round of the cup at the right time: broadcasts on free TV have been confirmed

In coordination with its TV partners, the German Football Association (DFB) has scheduled the first round of the DFB Cup at exactly the right time. This also determines which games can be seen on free TV. All of the 63 games of the 2022/2023 season will be broadcast by the pay TV channel Sky transfer. The first round will open on July 29th, and there will be a total of 30 matches until August 1st. Defending champions RB Leipzig and German champions FC Bayern will not play their opening games until the end of August, as they are dueling for the DFL Supercup on July 30th.

Live broadcasts on free TV begin on July 29th ZDF with the game between third division club 1860 Munich and runner-up Borussia Dortmund. On August 1st there will be a duel between second division promoted 1. FC Magdeburg and Europa League winner Eintracht Frankfurt in the ARD to see. The two “stragglers” will also be available live on free TV. August 30 shows that ZDF Leipzig’s appearance at regional league club FC Teutonia 05 Ottensen. A day later the ARD Bayern’s game at third division team Viktoria Köln.
