American actor Fred Ward, best known for his co-starring role in the film, has died aged 79 Tremors (1990) with Kevin Bacon. The news was given by his press officer, who did not specify the cause of death.
Ward was born in San Diego in 1942 and before pursuing an acting career he spent three years in the United States Air Force and was also a boxer. He studied acting in New York and Rome, making his debut as an actor in the television miniseries The age of Cosimo de ‘Medicidirected by Roberto Rossellini in 1972. His first notable role was in the film Alcatraz Escape, in 1979, and later also starred in Real Men (1983), My name is Remo Williams (1985) e America today (1993). Towards the end of her career she also had a minor role in the second season of the series True Detective.
