Earthquake a magnitude (M) of 7.3 shook Japan east on Wednesday (16/3) night to trigger a warning tsunami. The quake was centered off the coast of Fukushima prefecture at a depth of 60 kilometers.
According to the Japan Meteorological Agency, as quoted Reuters on Wednesday (16/3), the earthquake that rocked the capital Tokyo triggered tsunami warnings in parts of the northeast coast.
Shortly after, at around 23:36 local time, a one-meter tsunami wave warning was issued for parts of the northeast coast.
State-owned media, NHK, reported that the earthquake was so strong that it was difficult for people to stand up.
Meanwhile, as reported AFP On Wednesday (16/3), the Tokyo Electric Power Company (TEPCO) said the electricity supply to around 2 million homes was cut off due to the earthquake.
TEPCO is a Japanese multinational company that produces various kinds of energy products.
