Mexico City. The federal Ministry of Health (Ssa) reported that in the last 24 hours there were 1,500 new cases of Covid-19 in the country and 38 deaths. In addition, 22 thousand 34 active cases are reported, that is, people who have presented symptoms in the last 14 days and can transmit the cirus.
In its daily technical report on the situation of the pandemic in Mexico, released this afternoon, the federal agency highlighted that most of the new cases in the last five weeks were reported among youth, between the age group of 18 to 29 years.
The epidemiological week opened with four percent more cases than the previous one.
Since the start of the pandemic in the country in March last year, he added, 3 million 883 thousand 842 total cases and 293 thousand 897 total deaths related to the disease have been confirmed.
The ten entities that accumulate the highest number of cases are: Mexico City, the state of Mexico, Nuevo León, Guanajuato, Jalisco, Tabasco, Puebla, Veracruz, Sonora and San Luis Potosí, which together make up more than two thirds (66 per percent) of all accumulated cases registered in the country.
While Baja California, Sonora, Baja California Sur, Coahuila, Chihuahua, Mexico City, Aguascalientes, Guanajuato, Durango and San Luis Potosí are the states with the highest rate of active cases per 100,000 inhabitants.
Regarding the National Vaccination Strategy, the Ssa highlighted that on Saturday 211 thousand 396 new doses of vaccines against the disease were supplied, which already add up to a total of 132 million 308 thousand 788 antidotes applied since the beginning of the vaccination on December 24, 2020.
With this amount, 76 million 609 thousand 987 people have been vaccinated, representing 86 percent of those over 18 years of age in the country.
Of these, 64 million 922 thousand 896, 85 percent, already have the complete scheme; and 11 million 687 thousand 91 people, 15 percent, have half a scheme.
