Shooting for ‘Black Panther: Wakanda Forever’ has been halted

Marvel Studios is working hard on many more movies in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. One of the biggest successes in the series is Black Panther from 2018 and now the cameras are rolling for the sequel Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.

Or at least, it should be. Through The Hollywood Reporter it becomes clear that the recordings have come to a halt for the time being. The reason is that actress Letitia Wright has an injury. In the franchise, Wright plays the role of Shuri, possibly the new Black Panther.

Injury for Letitia Wright
The actress suffered the injury late in August, but the shooting for the film continued as usual. Now the recordings with the actress must be continued, but that is not yet possible. The recordings will be stopped until early 2022.

Black Panther: Wakanda Forever had the second solo movie with Chadwick Bosemans T’Challa aka Black Panther. However, the actor died in 2020 from the effects of colon cancer.

The postponement would not affect the release date. Black Panther: Wakanda Forever by Ryan Coogler was long scheduled for July 8, 2022, but was recently moved to November 11, 2022.
