A man has been attacked several times by a bull at the Fira de Onda festival. As a result, the man suffered a head injury and punctured the artery in the left thigh.
–
He later died of his injuries at a local hospital, reports the BBC.
–
Onda City Council has announced that it has canceled all bull running events during the festival, but other activities will continue.
–
This is reported to be the first death in Spain since the restrictions on Covid-19 were relaxed in early summer, giving the green light to bull running.
–
However, only a few such events have taken place since the summer, as there is a debate in Spain as to whether they should be abolished altogether.
–
Bullfighting has long been part of Spanish culture. Similar events are taking place in France and Portugal.
–
During the event, crowds of participants run in front of a group of bulls that are released in a part of the city. Injuries are common in bull races.
–
It has been reported that at least 16 runners have died during the festival since 1910.
