Huawei Boosts the Quality of Indonesia’s ICT Human Resources

JAKARTA (BAIKelko) – PT Huawei Tech Investment (Huawei Indonesia) will boost the quality of Indonesian Human Resources (HR) in the field of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) in collaboration with Telkom, Telkomsel, and the Human Resources Research and Development Agency of the Ministry of Communication and Information RI (Research and Development Agency for Human Resources Ministry of Communication and Information).

Huawei Indonesia Country Director Sheng Kai said that in this collaboration there will be training for 1,000 students majoring in ICT within three years.
Certified trainers from the Ministry of Communication and Informatics Research and Development Agency and the Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB) will first be trained by Huawei through the Train the Trainer program.

The training curriculum itself will be formulated by Huawei together with the Ministry of Communication and Information Technology’s Research and Development Agency, Telkom, and Telkomsel. After completing the training program which will be carried out in three places, namely at the Ciputat National ICT Training Center and at the Cikarang ICT Training and Development Center located under the coordination of the Ministry of Communication and Informatics Research and Development Agency, as well as in Bandung.

In the first stage, 100 students will be selected from the best universities throughout Indonesia, including from the Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB), University of Indonesia (UI), Padjadjaran University (UNPAD), Gajah Mada University (UGM), Diponegoro University (UNDIP) , Sepuluh Nopember Institute of Technology (ITS), and Padang State University (UNP). Furthermore, the 10 best participants from this initial stage will have the opportunity to take part in an internship program at the Telkomsel office.

“The implementation of education in the field of ICT is one of Huawei’s commitments to Indonesia by focusing on providing continuous and comprehensive training,” said Sheng Kai.

Support LTE
Not only in the HR sector, Huawei has shown its support for the Indonesian ICT sector, the company is also collaborating with XL Axiata in the development of the LTE network for the 2013 Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Summit, from 1 to 8 October 2013 in Bali.

When demonstrated in front of the Minister of Communication and Information Tifatul Sembiring on Friday (4/10), Huawei’s LTE network was able to operate with downlink speeds of up to 71.54Mbps at the Convention Center using the 2100MHz band at the XL demo booth at Bali Nusa Dua Convention Center (BNDCC).

On that occasion, Huawei and XL Axiata also demonstrated the Hologram projection using the LTE network for the first time in the world where a user image can be immediately turned into a hologram. This demo also shows future communication and face-to-face communication experiences.
