Zinedine Zidane became a world star at Juventus Turin. He does not rule out a future as coach of the Italians.
Real Madrid head coach Zinedine Zidane can apparently imagine a future as a coach at the Italian record champions Juventus Turin. When asked, the French agreed Sky Italy after the 3-1 first leg win in the Champions League quarter-finals against Liverpool: “Italy has always been in my heart, Juve has always been important to me. I don’t know. I’m here at the moment. We’ll see.”
At Juve, coach Andrea Pirlo is under increasing pressure. In the premier class there was the end for the team around superstar Cristiano Ronaldo in the round of 16, in Serie A the championship is almost unattainable with twelve points behind leaders Inter Milan.
Zidane matured to world class at Juve
Zidane had played for Juve from 1996 to 2001 and was a world class player there. In 1997 and 1998 he reached the Champions League final with the Bianconeri, but lost both games. In 1998 he became world champion with France and was awarded the Ballon d’Or in the same year.
Last had the Gazzetta dello Sport reports that Pirlo will be sacked if his side lose the match against SSC Napoli tonight. The successor should not be Zidane at the top of the list, but ex-coach Massimiliano Allegri. Accordingly, club president Andrea Agnelli is said to have met the 53-year-old on the Easter weekend.
Allegri worked for Juve from 2014 to 2019 and during this time led the club to five championship titles and the 2015 Champions League final. At that time, however, the Italians were defeated by FC Barcelona in Berlin.
