Marc surprised by the denouement in Postponement of Execution

Marc lost his job after falling down the stairs due to a TIA and ending up in hospital with severe brain damage. Now he has to sell his owner-occupied home after fifteen years of letting his mortgage lender, but there is a big hitch: the house is so underwater that sale is impossible. And there is no money for a renovation. High time to get the team up Postponement of Execution to put a positive spin on Marc’s life again.

As soon as Martijn arrives on his doorstep, Marc does not fall back just in surprise. After a number of dramatic events, the stress has become almost unbearable for him. Not only did he receive a TIA himself in 2017, his mother died of a brain haemorrhage that same year. He then had to give up his company and his relationship ended. “Lost your mother, lost company, lost yourself too”, says Marc with tears running down his cheeks. “I am no longer who I was. I do have a new me, and I am satisfied with it, but I have lost it. My company, my mother and ultimately my family.”

Marc wants to go on with his life, but the house in Den Helder is a block to his leg. He must and will sell it because the mortgage lender is panting in his neck. “But if it is sold at market value, then I will be left with a residual debt of 34,000 euros. So I will go into debt restructuring,” says Marc, excited. “I have no rest. I just keep in the negative spiral through that house.”

In short: the tenant has to get out, the house has to be stripped and renovated and on the market. So it happened. “It seems like I walk into Pinterest, dude”, Marc responds as soon as he sees his ‘new’ house. But when Martijn and broker Alex arrive on the doorstep within two weeks with very good news, it is almost unbelievable for Marc. Nobody saw this amount coming. Not even Alex.

The good news? The house has been sold for a whopping 151,000 euros. This means that Marc has money left over and that he can finally look to life positively again.
