17 positives among nurses and patients in the medical ward

Covid alarm at the Gallipoli hospital. There are 17 – at least until yesterday evening – the cases of positivity in the Medicine Department of the “Sacred Heart of Jesus”: seven nurses and a dozen patients have been transferred in the past few hours to the Goddess of Lecce. The situation could still evolve since not all the results of the swabs processed and made on the evening of last Saturday have yet arrived at the Gallipoli hospital.

Despite the vaccine being administered practically on the carpet in the hospital, it is clearly too early to see its effects and, within days of the recall, two nurses tested positive for the coronavirus on Saturday. All the precautions were taken within the ward led by the head physician Luigi Ria: the swabs were made to all the nursing and paramedical medical staff as well as to hospitalized patients. The results of the swabs then arrived last night and in the face of the positivity of the patients too, the planned protocol was triggered which, first of all, provides for the transfer of patients to Covid hospitals. The nurses who tested positive, on the other hand, apparently were already at home as they had shown slight symptoms and for precautionary reasons, in the last hours, they had not returned to work. However, until yesterday evening the department continued its activity, it being understood that the whole unit must now be completely sanitized.
