Bayern Munich’s Robert Lewandowski rebuffs his famous trophy photo

Despite its set of massive challenges, 2020 has been a year of a lot of silverware for Bayern Munich. After a pause in football across Europe for nearly three months due to the coronavirus pandemic, Hansi Flick led Bayern to another historic treble as well as the UEFA Supercup title and DFL Supercup title.

Even more impressively, it’s been a 2019/2020 season full of personal records and milestones for Robert Lewandowski. In addition to all of the winner’s medals he’s collected in the past six months, he’s also been named best men’s footballer of the year by FIFA and most recently he was named Globe Soccer’s player of the year in Dubai, beating out Cristiano Ronaldo. Of course, the most recent accolades offered Lewandowski the chance to recreate his infamous Instagram photo where he was in bed with all of the silverware he’d collected last season (Tz). The original version was just the Polish ace in bed with the Champions League trophy from Lisbon. Now is as good of a time as ever to use the ol’ “this is how it started” — “this is how it’s going” photo op.

This is how it started:

This is how it’s going now:

Pictured in the “I woke up like this” redux with Bayern’s talisman:

  • Championship trophy
  • Yet another Torjägerkanone
  • DFB-Pokal trophy
  • Champions League trophy
  • UEFA Supercup trophy
  • DFL Supercup trophy
  • FIFA Men’s Best Player award
  • Globe Soccer Best Player of the year
  • UEFA Player of the year award
  • Champions League best forward of the year
  • Bundesliga player of the season award
  • Tuttosport Golden Player award

Just when you think it can’t get any better for Lewandowski, it does. He’s already on pace to lead the Bundesliga in scoring again this season with 17 goals already to his name and it could very well be the season he breaks Gerd Müller’s 40-goal, single season scoring record in the Bundesliga. Only time will tell, but Lewandowski is showing absolutely no signs of slowing down at the moment.

And don’t worry, the trophies occupying the bed with Lewy was 100% okay with his wife, Anna!
