– 9 people were injured in an explosion accident at AGC Fine Techno Korea in Gumi, Gyeongbuk.

According to the Gyeongbuk Fire Department at 4:33 pm on the 29th, AGC Fine Techno Korea (Asahichoja) in Bongsan-ri, Shandong-eup, Gumi, Gyeongsangbuk-do, caused an unknown explosion.

In this accident, nine workers in the field suffered minor injuries, including fractures, and were transferred to a nearby hospital. There were no fatalities and serious injuries. The lifesaving ended around 6 pm on the same day.

Firefighting authorities estimate that the gas remaining in the hydrogen and nitrogen pipes exploded during the furnace repair work in the factory.

An official from the Gyeongbuk Fire Department explained, “We were replacing the old pipes connected to the furnace, and the gas remaining in one of the two types of pipes such as hydrogen and nitrogen seems to have exploded.”

AGC Fine Techno Korea has produced LCD substrates by melting 65 tons of glass per day in a furnace.

The Gumi Fire Department mobilized 15 fire engines to complete safety measures within 50 minutes of the accident and investigate the cause of the accident with the police.

An official from the Gumi Fire Department said, “It seems that there was only one explosion, not a series of explosions.”
