There are currently 1185 confirmed corona cases in Aargau, 8 more than on Friday, as can be seen from the cantonal crisis team’s situation bulletin. So far, a total of 44 people in Aargau have died from the effects of the corona virus – another death occurred on the weekend. There are currently 7 people hospitalized with Covid-19. According to an estimate by the cantonal medical service, 1,075 people are now cured. The number of active corona cases in Aargau is around 100.
The cantonal medical service has been running the Competence and coordination center Conti. The Conti employees are responsible for so-called contact tracing. It is your job to contact, advise and instruct the newly infected people individually. In order to be able to understand and interrupt the chain of infection, the Conti employees also follow up close personal contacts with the newly infected people, while they were contagious. The newly infected persons have to go into isolation, the close contact persons in quarantine. Since the start of the Conti program a week ago, i.e. since May 11th, 22 people infected with Corona and 82 close contacts have been recorded. This shows that almost 4 additional people have to be sent to quarantine per infection. According to the cantonal situation bulletin, the main places of infection specified were the workplace, the family and the neighborhood.
How does easing affect infection numbers?
The average time between infection and onset of Covid-19 is five to six days – but it can also take 14 days for symptoms to appear. It is therefore too early to take stock of how the easing has affected infection numbers. After a week with open schools, shops and restaurants, it can be seen for Aargau that the number of new infections in Aargau is stable at a low level. The number of corona patients with severe disease is clearly declining. At the moment, only one person is being treated in the intensive care unit and artificially ventilated.
