81 percent of IC employees are heading for burnout | Inland

Stress is the main cause for this. Theo Immers, chairman of the NCPSB, is shocked by the figures. “I think the Netherlands should seriously consider a general lockdown. Since all government measures are aimed at managing the IC capacity in Dutch hospitals, the dropout of IC employees will have a direct impact on government policy and society as a whole. ”

Doctors and nurses participated in the study. The research shows that employees who are in the danger zone permanently use reserves in order to continue functioning and that rest no longer helps. “During rest periods, there is no recovery in this phase. In addition, the ability to manage stress decreases over time. It is a sliding scale that, without adequate intervention, will inevitably lead to a breaking point. Then there is a burnout. ”

According to Immers, employees with a burnout in the medical sector are usually out of circulation for more than a year.

In a special podcast by Wierd Duk Bert Slagter warns that the IC will be full at the end of October if the number of corona infections continues to rise at this rate. He also explains in great detail how we should read all the statistics:
