KOMPAS.com – District Health Office Banyuwangi find a new cluster in one Islamic boarding school in Banyuwangi Regency.

According to the Head of the Banyuwangi Health Service, Dr. Widji Lestariono, until Friday (21/8/2020) there were 77 students from the Islamic boarding school who were exposed to Covid-19.

When confirmed, Nihayatul Wafiroh, a spokesman for the Ponpes Darussalam Blokagung Banyuwangi, confirmed the incident.

He said that until Friday (21/8/2020) afternoon, his party officially obtained data that 6 Darussalam Blokagung students tested positive for Covid-19.

The woman who is also a member of the Indonesian Parliament said that since the beginning of August 2020 several students Islamic boarding school complaining of pain. During the first 10 days, the number of sick students continued to increase.

The pesantren immediately isolated them in two different locations.

Due to illness, some students chose to go home and before returning home they were asked to do a rapid test at the puskesmas closest to their house.

Then on August 14, 2020, there were three students whose rapid tests showed reactive results. The students conducted rapid tests at four different health centers.

According to Nihayatul, the pesantren then coordinated with the Health Office to conduct a mass rapid test on Sunday, August 16, 2020.

“A total of 502 students took the rapid test. They are the results tracing of the 3 reactive students and the students who are sick, “explained Nihayatul when contacted by telephone, Friday (21/8/2020).

He said that of the 502 male and female students, 92 were declared reactive. On Sunday night, the reactive santri were immediately isolated.

“All reactive students are female students and most of them are asymptomatic,” he explained.

Until Friday (21/8/2020) afternoon, Nihayatul said there were 6 students who were confirmed positive for Covid-19 and were hospitalized.

There are several steps taken by the boarding school. The first positive students with mild symptoms were immediately separated from the positive students with no symptoms of Covid-19.

Second, the students whose swab results were negative were also separated. Meanwhile, the students were positive without symptoms of independent isolation.

In addition, the boarding school has also restricted the visits of the santri guardian and did not hold Friday prayers for the next two weeks and closed the shrine of the pesantren elders for the general public.

total Covid-19 patients in Banyuwangi Regency soared drastically. Until August 21, 2020, the number of positive patients in Banyuwangi has reached 187 patients.

Meanwhile, on August 20, 2020, the number of Covid-19 patients in Banyuwangi Regency was 114 patients. So that in one day there are an additional 73 positive patients for Covid-19.

To date, 77 patients have been declared cured and 105 people are undergoing treatment while five patients have died.
