The UK government has ordered 2 million additional doses of the Moderna vaccine. This means that a total of 7 million Moderna doses will soon be available to the British, the government writes in a statement. The total number of available corona vaccines is much higher: the British government has ordered 357 million doses from seven different suppliers. In addition to Moderna, these include AstraZeneca / Oxford and Pfizer / BioNTech.
In the statement, the British government writes that the Moderna vaccine is expected to be delivered next spring. First, the drug still has to be approved by the British health authority MHRA.
Yesterday, English hospitals heard that they need to get ready to start vaccinating within ten days. This will first be done with the vaccine from Pfizer / BioNTech, which is expected to be delivered on Monday 7 December. Read more about the vaccination operation in Great Britain here.
