The British drug regulator said today that seven of the 30 people who developed blood clots after being vaccinated with the AstraZeneca Covid-19 vaccine had died.
But importantly, these are seven of the more than 18 million doses of AstraZeneca that have been injected in the UK so far. And it is currently unclear whether there is a link between vaccination and the extremely rare occurrence of blood clots. The regulator also emphasizes that the benefits of vaccination outweigh the risks and encourages people to get vaccinated.
The Netherlands also announced today that it had suspended the vaccination of the population with the AstraZeneca vaccine until Wednesday for precautionary reasons.
