5,810 new corona infections in Austria

5,810 corona infections have been recorded in Austria within 24 hours since Saturday (as of Sunday, 9.30 a.m.). This is below the average for the past seven days (7,377). The seven-day incidence was 575.1 cases per 100,000 population. As of Sunday, there are 96,952 active cases in Austria, down 4,499 from the day before.

According to the ministries, there have been 4,104,859 confirmed cases in Austria since the beginning of the pandemic. 3,989,860 people have recovered since the outbreak of the epidemic, and 10,297 were considered healthy again within the past 24 hours.

Twelve deaths have been reported since yesterday. In total, the Covid 19 pandemic has claimed 18,047 lives in Austria since it broke out. However, it has recently become known that many more people in this country have died from or with Corona, and numbers from the federal states are being reported successively due to a data comparison. The dashboard of the Agency for Health and Food Security (AGES) recorded 19,448 deaths on Sunday.

There were 1,518 people suffering from Covid in the hospital on Sunday (57 fewer than the day before), 121 were cared for in intensive care units. The latter number has not changed since yesterday and has fallen by 40 patients within a week.

A total of 101,466 rapid PCR and antigen tests have been registered in the past 24 hours. Of these, 97,021 were meaningful PCR tests with a positive rate of six percent. This 24-hour value is above the average for the past week (an average of four percent of the PCR tests positive).

1,724 vaccinations were carried out on Saturday. According to the data from the e-vaccination card, a total of 6,821,330 people received at least one vaccination. 6,145,690 people and thus 68.4 percent of Austrians have valid vaccination protection. On Saturday there were only 88 first stitches. 233 vaccinations were second, 1,403 third bites.

The protection rate (valid vaccination certificate) is highest in Burgenland at 74.8 percent. In Lower Austria, 70.7 percent of the population has a valid vaccination protection, in Styria 69.2 percent. After Vienna (67.4), Tyrol (66.4), Carinthia (65.3), Salzburg (64.6) and Vorarlberg (64.4), Upper Austria brings up the rear with 64.2 percent.

The federal state with the highest seven-day incidence is currently Burgenland with 1,100, followed by Lower Austria, Vienna and Vorarlberg (735.3, 706.3 and 547.8 respectively). Then follow Upper Austria (484.5), Carinthia (475.4), Salzburg (443.4), Styria (394.1) and Tyrol (342.8).
