5 -Year -Old Toddlers in Costa Rica Can Get the Corona Virus Vaccine

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta – Children in Costa Rica aged 5 years and over can get immunized coronavirus vaccine. This means that Costa Rica is the first country in Central America to adopt a policy of allowing children to receive the Covid-19 vaccine.

Corona virus vaccine immunization will be added to the list of infectious diseases that children are exposed to Costa Rica can get it, after the polio and smallpox vaccine.

“Our basic vaccine scheme has made it possible to conquer many viruses with detrimental health and other health consequences, even death in a young population,” said Costa Rican Health Minister Daniel Salas, Friday, November 5, 2021.

Recently, the number of corona virus infections in Costa Rica has decreased. Official data shows there have been more than 7,000 deaths from Covid-19 out of a population of 5.1 million.

So far, almost one third of the age group of 12-19 years in Costa Rica, has received a single dose of injection coronavirus vaccine. Meanwhile, 54 percent of Costa Ricans have received two doses of the coronavirus vaccine.
