1. Moon Conjunction and Venus

Earth’s natural satellite will appear close to Venus on November 8.

At that time, Venus will be at a distance of 1 degree north of Venus.

Observers can see these two objects at around 18:03 WIB with an altitude of 40 degrees above the southwest horizon.

Both will sink towards the horizon at around 9:09 p.m.

The moon will be at mag -10.8 and Venus at mag -4.5, both of which can be found in the constellation Sagittarius.

2. Conjunction of the Moon and Saturn

After approaching Saturn, the Moon will appear close to the ringed planet on November 10, 2021.

Saturn will be at a distance of 4 degrees south of Saturn.

Observers can start seeing these two objects at 18:03 WIB at an altitude of 72 degrees above the southwest horizon.

The moon and Saturn are then unobservable after 23:28 WIB.

At that time, the Moon will be at mag -11.7 and Saturn at mag 0.4. Both can be found in the constellation Capricornus.

If the observer wants to see Saturn’s rings clearly, it is recommended to use the help of a telescope with a minimum magnification of 175 times.

3. The Northern Taurid meteor shower

The North Taurid meteor shower has been active since October 20 and will continue until December 10. However, this meteor shower will reach its peak on November 12.

During this period, observers have the opportunity to see the Northern Taurid meteor in the constellation Taurus.

At its peak, observers can see the meteor shower at around 18:28 WIB, when the point of its emission rises above the eastern horizon and will remain active until dawn at around 05:03 WIB.

The shower is likely to be at its best at around 00:00 WIB, when it is at its highest point in the sky.

It is estimated that observers can observe about five meteors per hour.

However, this emission intensity applies if the sky of the observation location is very dark and free from light pollution.

4. Leonid meteor shower

The Leonid meteor shower will be active from 6-30 November 2021. However, this meteor shower will produce a peak level of meteors on 17 November.

As the name implies, observers can see the Leonid meteor emission from the constellation Leo.

Observers can start observing the meteor shower at around 00:24 WIB, when the point of its beam rises above the eastern horizon.

Then it will remain active until dawn at around 05:04 WIB.

The beam peaks after dawn, around 06:00 WIB, so the meteor shower will likely produce its best view just before dawn, when it is at its highest.

It is predicted that observers can see about 12-15 meteors per hour if observing in a very dark location and free of light pollution.

5. Partial Lunar Eclipse

A partial lunar eclipse will occur on November 19, 2021 and Indonesia will be one of the regions that can observe this phenomenon.

When a partial lunar eclipse occurs, only part of the Moon’s face is covered by Earth’s shadow, so there will be no reddish color. On the other hand, the Moon will look like it was bitten.

Even so, it is predicted that this partial lunar eclipse will cover about 97 percent of the Moon’s surface.

The partial lunar eclipse will be observable starting at around 13:03 WIB (15.02 WIT / 14.02 WITA). Unfortunately, it was still daytime in Indonesia so observers could not observe it.

However, the peak of the partial lunar eclipse will occur at 16.02 WIB (18.02 WIT / 17.02 WITA).

At this time, observers living in eastern Indonesia can start seeing a partial lunar eclipse.

The partial lunar eclipse will end at around 17:47 WIB (19:47 WIT / 18:47 WITA), where observers living in central Indonesia can see the Moon low in the eastern sky.

The eclipse will actually end around 18.03 WIB (21.03 WIT/19.03 WITA).
