5 Color Photos of the Universe from the James Webb Space Telescope

KOMPAS.com – For the first time in human history, a space telescope developed by the United States National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA), James Webbmanaged to capture a color image of the universe.

Telescope James Webb became the hope of a new era in astronomy. Not only color images, the telescope is able to reveal spectroscopic data, a spectacular collection of cosmic features.

The images and spectra that James Webb managed to capture reveal the capabilities of his four cutting-edge instruments, and confirm that future observations will revolutionize human understanding of the cosmos and the origin of the earth.

Webb’s first observations tell the story of the hidden universe through every phase of cosmic history, from adjacent exoplanets to the most distant observable galaxies in the universe.

“Today, we are presenting humanity with an innovative new view of the cosmos from the James Webb Space Telescope. This is a sight that has never been seen before,” said NASA representative Bill Nelson as quoted from the European Space Agency (ESA) website, Wednesday (13/7/2022).

The resulting images, including the deepest infrared view of the universe, show the telescope is capable of helping humans better understand the universe including Earth.

“The extraordinary success of the Webb team is a reflection of what NASA does best. We turn it into reality for the benefit of mankind. I can’t wait to see what we find, the team is just getting started,” said Nelson.

Separately, ESA Director General Josef Aschbacher added, the first images and spectra from the Webb telescope are a great celebration of the international collaboration that made this ambitious mission possible.

“I want to thank everyone involved with the commissioning of this incredible telescope and the delivery of Webb’s first extraordinary product for making this historic day a reality,” he said.
