40 performances from 18 countries in “Carthage Days”

The eighth session of the Carthage Musical Days will start on January 21, with a program that includes 40 performances from 18 countries, as well as a series of professional meetings to exchange knowledge and experiences.

The director of the festival, Dorsaf Al-Hamdani, said that this session records the absence of the official competition for the second session in a row, noting that the Carthage Music Days are a platform for meeting creative musicians, introducing musical works and new projects, and highlighting emerging talents.

Artists and groups from Tunisia, Egypt, Jordan, Palestine, Lebanon, Syria, Bahrain, Morocco, Algeria, France, Belgium, Italy, Congo, Benin, Cameroon, Mali and the United States participate in the festival program, which runs until January 28.

Munther Falah, director of production and member of the festival’s governing body, said that the performances are divided into 11 major musical performances that will be hosted by the Opera Theater, the most important of which is the “Nostalgia” performance by the composer Rabih Zamouri, and 29 other performances, including 20 by Tunisian artists, distributed between the District Theater in the City of Culture and the Rio Hall in the capital.

In this session, the festival introduces a new section entitled “Carthage Musical Days Market”, which is an exhibition directed to various players in the field of music industries.

Another section entitled “Carthage Musical Days in Virtual Reality” will be created in cooperation with the Tunis Center for the Digital Cultural Economy, where festival-goers will be able to keep up with virtual musical performances.

The festival honors, in its eighth session, the artist Alia Al-Salami and the artist Fawzi Al-Shukaili, in addition to the late artist Reda Bel Haj Khalifa, known as “Rida Dicky Dicky.”
