Undecided a few days ago as to what to do next in his career, Laurent Blanc will open a new chapter in his second life as a coach. It will be in Qatar, in Al-Rayyan. The French technician will be involved in the coming days with this Qatari training, where he will be accompanied by Franck Passi.
A surprising destination for Blanc
Laurent Blanc had been free since his dismissal from Paris Saint-Germain at the end of the 2015-16 season. The 1998 world champion had therefore been looking for a new challenge for more than four years. An eternity for a coach who has never hidden his ambition to take over a club sized for the very high level. Laurent Blanc’s destination may therefore surprise at first glance, while the former PSG coach has seen his name circulate in Chelsea, Manchester United, Barcelona or even in smaller clubs such as Olympique Lyonnais or Valence.
As a reminder, Laurent Blanc had launched his coaching career in Bordeaux, a club he led to the title of champion of France. He then took control of the France team, of which he was the coach for two years, in a reconstruction phase between 2010 and 2012. Appointed coach of PSG in 2013 after the departure of Carlo Ancelotti, he remained 3 years in the capital, where he won everything on the national scene.
