343 Industries works with AMD on ray tracing for Halo Infinite – Gaming – News

Halo Infinite will receive an update sometime after its release on December 8, adding ray tracing to the game. Developer 343 Industries is working with AMD for this. It is not yet known when the raytracing update will be released.

343 Industries had previously indicated that Halo Infinite will not have ray tracing when the game comes out, but that it will be added later. Details about that have not yet been announced, but in a announcement with details about the PC version of the game, the developer writes that more information will follow shortly.

Microsoft and 343 Industries have designated AMD as the “official partner” of the PC version. This is accompanied by marketing activities such as the release of a special version of the Radeon RX 6900 XT video card. The choice for AMD as a partner is obvious, because Microsoft also uses AMD hardware in its Xbox consoles. Raytracing is specifically mentioned in the post about the PC version, but the AMD hardware in the Xbox Series X and S also has support for the technique.

In a video, Microsoft shows various features of the PC version of Halo Infinite. The developer claims to have put a lot of work into this version. For example, there is extensive support for ultra-wide screens, including the possibility to move the hud more to the center of the screen. Halo Infinite will be released on December 8 for Xbox consoles and Windows.
