Baunatal (district of Kassel). A driver in Baunatal started to flee on foot from the police on Thursday night. The officials who followed him put an end to this attempt and arrested the 31-year-old from Kassel. As it turned out, not only had he been behind the wheel of the car under the influence of drugs, there was also a lot of trouble with his small car.
The Renault Clio was not registered. In addition, license plates with a forged TÜV sticker and a fake registration sticker were attached to the vehicle. The 31-year-old, who also does not have a driver’s license, has to answer for a number of violations.
The patrol from the south-west police station had noticed around 4:20 a.m. in Ulmenstrasse on the Clio because of its speedy journey. As they followed it, the car accelerated until it finally stopped in a parking lot on Dürerstrasse and three people fled the car. The driver, who ran through bushes, over a track bed into Maximilian-Kolbe-Strasse and then into a parking lot in the direction of the market square, was caught by the officers after a few hundred meters. During his search, they found a small amount of marijuana in addition to the car keys. The 31-year-old then had to accompany the patrol to the police station to take a blood sample. The officers secured the drugs, license plates and vehicle keys. Further investigations continue.
