30% of students expected in Montluçon schools from May 12

May 06, 2020 at 5:12 p.m.

The mayor of Montluçon detailed this afternoon the recovery plan in schools in the city from May 12. A recovery that will be done at reduced numbers. The detail in three key points.

About 30% of students present

Back to school … but not for everyone. The schools of the city will welcome, until May 25, only students of Grande section, CP, CM2, CE1 only in REP + and the children of caregivers from next Tuesday. The brothers or sisters of the pupils concerned may also be accommodated. City services have surveyed parents on their intentions in recent days. About 30% said they intended to return their child to school. The reception of pupils of other classes will be done gradually thereafter.

Security measures put in place

This relatively small proportion of students present will make it easier for the City to manage the requirement of a maximum of 15 students per class. “We will rather have 7 or 8 students per class on average”, says Mayor Frédéric Laporte. No problem of space therefore a priori to enforce social distancing.

Each school will also be equipped with hydroalcoholic gel, soap and disposable absorbent paper as well as a thermometer. All school staff will be provided with masks but also with protective visors. Markings on the ground will be made in front of the establishments to materialize the necessary distances between each person. Finally, the classes will be cleaned every morning, before the start of the school year, and at the mid-break. “The objective is to ensure the best possible security in order to give the most confidence to parents who entrust their children to us,” says Frédéric Laporte.

Canteens and extracurricular receptions also provided

172 students are registered in the canteens for the resumption, next Tuesday. The meals, with hot dish, will be taken in the refectories. And not in the classroom. “Our canteens are large enough for the number of students expected,” argues the mayor of Montluçon. The number of children per table will be halved. And they will be installed in staggered rows.

The extracurricular reception structures will also function again, from 7 to 19 hours. But only children whose two parents work, and already enrolled in these devices will be accepted. Leisure centers will also be reopened, but with children spread over more sites.

Finally, note that the Gulliver crèche, the collective crèche, the family crèche and Kara’Pattes will also resume their activities.
