3 habits that I use to save money every week

I try to save money as often as possible. You never know when an emergency will come, and I think it’s worth having more money in the bank than less. I also have a number of goals that I need to save more for, such as: B. buying a second home.

To make sure my savings are on track, I keep a household budget that lists my spending categories and I know how much I can spend. Additionally, these three habits help keep my costs down.

1. Don’t waste electricity

As someone who works from home full time, I need to keep my house warm in winter and cool in summer. As a result, my utility bills tend to be high. But I’m still taking steps to bring it down.

For example, I always turn off the light when I leave a room. And since I have two-zone heating and air conditioning, I only cool or warm the part of the house that I stay in during the day. I also try not to run the water until I’m ready to use it (even if that sometimes means jumping into a colder shower), and I pull down the blinds in the summer to get as much heat as possible to leave outside.

Does that save me a lot of money? Probably not. But do I save a little money by doing this? Secure. And hey, it’s better to save a little than nothing at all.

2. Shopping for special offers in the supermarket

Providing my children with healthy meals is a priority, but my children are also picky (as children are after all) and insist on brands. The problem is, the brands they prefer aren’t always on sale. So I often look for promotions in grocery stores and stock up on supplies when I can.

Finding specials takes extra time and sometimes it means shopping in two stores instead of one. But I can safely say that it will lower our food bills.

3. Shopping in bulk

For many people, the warehouse clubs are not worth it because they don’t use up the products quickly enough to use up before the expiration date. That is not the case in my household. There are enough of us who eat the same things over and over again that it is worth buying in bulk.

Take strawberries – a fruit that every member of my household eats. At my local warehouse club, a $ 6 box will last almost a week. In my regular grocery store, strawberries worth US $ 6 are enough for two days at most.

I buy a lot of products in bulk and I estimate that doing so will cut my grocery bill by about $ 30 to $ 50 a week, depending on what I buy. That more than makes up for the $ 100 annual membership fee for the Warehouse Club and gets me ahead financially.

Sometimes it’s small things that add up to big savings. These habits help me save more than I would otherwise, and if you want to add more cash to your cash reserves, you should use these tips as well.
