290,000 new infections US • Cities near Beijing closed

Residents of the Chinese cities of Shijiazhuang and Xingtai, south of the capital Beijing, have been asked to stay at home for seven days. Inhabitants are also not allowed to come together in large groups. In recent days, 300 new infections have been detected in Hebei province, which includes both cities.

Commuters working in Beijing are required to show a negative test before entering the capital. They must also be able to prove that they work in Beijing. In Shijiazhuang, all public transport, including taxis, has been shut down.
