27 People Detected Positive for HIV/AIDS

CITY, Jawa Pos Radar Mojokerto – The case of HIV/AIDS in Mojokerto City is getting worse. This year, the city with three sub-districts has detected 27 people who have tested positive for the deadly disease. With these findings, the total number of PLWHA (People Living with HIV/AIDS) in the city reached 902 people.

The Head of Disease Control and Prevention (P2P) of the Mojokerto City Health, Population Control and Family Planning Office (Dinkes PPKB), Dr. Lily Nurlaily, said the 27 people who had just been detected were of productive age. “This year’s new PLWHA cases attack the age of 20 to 30 years. There are even some pregnant women too,” he said.

He continued, the trend of contagion this year is inversely proportional to last year. Because, last year, the discovery of PLWHA cases was dominated by men. In total, 81 people. “Perhaps because it is not yet massive for tracking PLWHA this year. Because apart from the high risk during the pandemic, we are also prevented from tracing and vaccinating Covid-19,” he explained. Thus, the total number of PLWHA from 2015 to 2021 in the City was recorded at 902 people. Meanwhile, as many as 294 people died.

Meanwhile, due to the lack of screening for PLWHA, the handling is carried out to overcome the transmission and treatment of PLWHA is carried out through increasing the competence of puskesmas officers. “From this VCT, the puskesmas can help monitor overall health. The health center health workers will usually coordinate with the case manager if there is a problem related to the treatment of PLWHA,” he concluded. (father / ron)
