Goran Djuricin speaks of beginners’ mistakes after leaving GC and is still disappointed.

GC played two games under coach Goran Djuricin before the lockdown interrupted the season. He came back to Zurich for five days of training after the easing – then he was released. He was very disappointed, the Austrian says in an interview with “Blick”. He had a good connection to the players. «It just worked».

While most clubs became quieter due to the Corona break, the grasshopper club dominated the headlines of Swiss football. An investment company from Hong Kong took over the record champion. Sports director Fredy Bickel had to go. The coach, on the other hand, should stay, the new managing director Shqiprim Berisha and the new sports director Bernard Schuiteman announced.

Leaving as a gentleman «unfortunately not possible»
With his last employers, he went as a gentleman, says Djuricin. “Unfortunately, it wasn’t possible with GC.” He admitted that he wasn’t the best man. He was disappointed “because I was fooled”. He said to Berisha and Schuiteman in the face what he thought of them. “It was anything but the fine English way of mine,” he knows. He was an honest, direct person and the “truth just had to get out”.

He is no longer angry, says the 45-year-old. But still disappointed. He speaks of “beginner mistakes” that Berisha and Schuiteman can pass the first time. He hoped that they would have learned from this and that they would communicate more professionally in the future. But there was nothing more to say, “it’s done and done”. He wishes the players and fans in particular great success.
