2024-2025 School Year Leave of Absence Requests: Who, How, and What You Need to Know

The rectoral circular “Request for leave of absence” for the 2024-2025 school year has just been published.

Requests must be made by January 31, through the hierarchical channel for the first requests for availability upon authorization. When layoff is legal, no text sets a deadline for making the request.

Who is concerned ?

Teaching, education and guidance staff with secondary education who wish to request leave of absence.

Trainee staff in 2023-2024 can request leave of absence from

the academy to which they will be assigned at the end of the inter-academic movement.

Incoming staff following inter-academic movement must request their availability request upon authorization within 5 days following notification of their assignment to the academy.

Staff currently on availability must have received a renewal request form (sent directly to the rectorate by March 8 at the latest).

Availability by right or by authorization?

– Is granted by right to the civil servant who requests it: availability to follow their spouse (professional reasons), to raise a child under 12 years old, to provide care to a spouse/child/ascendant suffering from a disability requiring a third person to exercise a mandate as a local elected official. There is no deadline for making this request.

– May be granted upon authorization from Madame La Rectrice: availability for studies, for personal convenience, for the creation of a business.

Salary, advancement, position?

On availability we do not receive any salary. Promotion is also suspended, except for colleagues on legal leave and colleagues on leave by authorization, who carry out a professional activity. Rights to advancement are retained for a maximum of 5 years (conditions to be respected, contact us if you are in this case).

We lose our position (but not our academy). At the time of reintegration during intra-academic movement, you currently benefit from 1000 additional points on the desired department and/or on the departmental replacement zone which correspond to the department of the former position.

How to request a leave of absence?

For a first request, the request is made in writing to the Montpellier rectorate through the hierarchical channel, using the dedicated form (page 4 of the rectoral circular). Colleagues who request a renewal of their availability have normally received a specific letter from the rectorate.

Attention :

– The TZRs make the request to the administrative establishment.

– The 2023-2024 trainees are awaiting their final assignment to the INTER movement to make the request to the rectorate of the academy obtained.

– Colleagues assigned to two establishments make the request to the head of the establishment of the main assignment.
