The Governing Council has authorized this Thursday the Ministry of Health to acquire the vaccines that will be used during the next 2023 regional campaign against the fluwhose start is expected at the beginning of the last quarter of this year.
Specifically, there will be four different types of vaccines, indicated for use according to the needs of each age group and health and socio-sanitary risk, whose budget rises to 10,081,604 euros for the acquisition of 780,500 flu doses.
The flu is a major health problem both because of the mortality it can cause and because of the health, social and economic consequences that its seasonal epidemics can cause.
Given this scenario, the flu vaccination It is, along with correct hygienic-care practices, the most effective preventive measure against this respiratory pathology and its complications, especially among people who, due to their membership in health and social risk groups, have a greater risk not only of contracting the disease with greater severity, but also to become a vector of transmission to other people.
Las flu shots provided they are distributed in 300,000 doses (valued at 2,964,000 euros) for the general population between 60 and 64 years, children between six and twenty-three months of age and people between five and 59 years included in risk groups; 430,000 vaccines (5,813,600 euros) for the non-institutionalized general population aged 65 or over; 50,000 units (1,300,000 euros) aimed at institutionalized people aged 65 or over or non-institutionalized dependents in that age group; and 500 doses (4,004 euros) for patients with a documented allergy to any of the components of the previous types of vaccination.
