20,000 tickets sold for ferry flights Helsinki-Riga / Article / LSM.lv

20,000 tickets have been sold for ferry flights from Helsinki to Riga, and this influx of tourists is expected to be significant for Riga, the Minister of Economics Jānis Vitenbergs (“KPV LV”) told Latvijas Radio in an interview. Meanwhile, Tallink Grupp announced additional flights due to high interest.

“Ferries from Finland have started working with us. It was not a fact that the Finns do not go to Sweden, but go to Latvia, ”said Vitenbergs.

He stated that more than 20,000 tickets had been sold for these flights. These travelers will be a good signal for tourism in Riga, which has suffered significantly due to the restrictions of Covid-19.

Tallink Grupp also informed the media that the new temporary routes Riga-Helsinki and Turku-Tallinn have quickly attracted great interest from travelers. Due to the great interest, the company will add additional flights on the route Riga-Helsinki and Turku-Tallinn in August 2020.

It was expected that the Riga-Helsinki route would be available until August 16, but due to the great interest, the company will continue to operate on this route at least until August 29. The voyages will be operated by Tallink Grupp’s Silja Serenade.

On the Turku-Tallinn route, the ship “Baltic Queen” will run only on working days almost all of July, but from July 31 it will have additional flights on Fridays.

Tallink Grupp promises to sell only a certain number of tickets for each trip, so that the ships are not overcrowded and everyone can keep the desired distance from others.

This is the main reason for adding additional flights.
